The Miracle of the Human Spirit memorial park sits across the street from St. John's Regional Medical Center, which was heavily damaged by the tornado. The tribute engraved in stone commemorates volunteers helping to rebuild Joplin as well as those whose lives were lost in the tornado.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" came to Joplin to build homes for homeless Joplin residents. A total of seven homes were built in one week.

The McAllister family has been working to build a new home, expected to be completed July 2011. The McAllisters are currently living in a Joplin rental home.
